This is the third time that Madrid Fusion Manila (MFM) event takes place in the Philippines – this one in Pasay City – and it is the only Madrid Fusion event to be held in an Asian country. This year’s theme is “Towards a Sustainable Gastronomic Planet”. There are 19 multi-talented chefs from around the world, including some from the Philippines, who gather in Manila to teach their expertise and showcase their masterpieces. They also display different delicacies from the various regions of the Philippines.

MFM is divided into three components: the International Gastronomy Congress, International Gastronomy Expo, and the launch of Flavors of the Philippines. There are also regional lunches that will happen each day of the event with different themes for each day; the theme for the first day of the Regional Lunch is Luzon and rice. There are a lot of people who go to experience Madrid Fusion: students and professionals; first-timers and veterans.

The chefs are mostly in the congress to talk to and teach the audiences. There are many booths in the Expo area, most of which are local. There are also foreign-owned booths that are mostly Spanish who takes the opportunity to introduce their products and find a potential partners and clients. There are also tastings and seminar areas, presentations, and press conferences in the expo area. There will also be a welcome party that will happen at SM at the Bay for all of the official delegates of the MFM after the end of its first day.
