The three-day gastronomic event with the theme of “Towards a Sustainable Gastronomic Planet” will be ending later this afternoon. Madrid Fusion Manila has featured every specialty of the Regions here in the Philippines. It has also showcased some of the finest delicacies from other countries, especially Spain. The booths on the expo area offered free tasters to every attendee. There were also chef press conferences that happened in the expo area so even regular expo attendees could ask some questions to the chefs. There was also a lot of food and wine tastings that happened during the three-day affair.

However, during the beer-tasting that happened this afternoon, an earthquake struck the area and most of the people in the tasting area had to evacuate. The quake was quite powerful and some of the ceiling fell off but luckily no one was injured. The organisers escorted everyone from the meeting rooms and the congress area to the exit for everyone’s safety and then allowed everybody in again when they felt that the area was secure.

MFM 2017 has been a success, most especially on the third day, as there are so many people who attended. The people also learned so much especially about sustainability and became interested in the diverse food culture in the Philippines. Even though it ends today, we are hoping that next year the Philippines could still be hosting it for the fourth time.
