On April 26, the ISPR released a confessional video statement of Taliban spokesperson Ehsanullah Ehsan, who stated that the leadership of the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) was working with hostile foreign agencies to destabilise Pakistan. Ehsan said that the TTP was working with India, RAW, the National Directorate of Security (NDS) of Afghanistan and other Afghan forces against Pakistan.

The former TTP spokesman also added that youth of the country were being misled and wrong interpretations of religion were being used to recruit them.

In his confessional statement, Ehsanullah Ehsan spoke about the TTP choosing a new leader, Mullah Fazlullah, through a lucky draw following the killing of Hakimullah Mehsud.

“What can you expect from an organisation whose leader is selected through a lucky draw?” Ehsan says. “And then the leader was a person of questionable character, who married his mentor’s daughter by force and took her away. These types of personalities, these types of people, are neither capable of nor are they serving Islam.”

Ehsanullah Ehsan also revealed that links with India and RAW were forged after the TTP fled to Afghanistan, following the operation in North Waziristan by the Pakistan Army. He revealed that the TTP was in contact with the Afghan intelligence Agency and Afghan forces that provided them with safe passage and guided their infiltration into Pakistan.

He also added that they are receiving all kinds of support from RAW and NDS to nurture terrorism in Pakistan.

Interestingly, Pakistan has been hosting more than 3 million Afghan refugees since the Russian invasion of Afghanistan and their present government is still not prepared to receive them back.
