Kabaddi is a contact team sport that originated in Indian subcontinent in Tamil Nadu. It is popular in South Asia and is the state game of the Indian states of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Bihar and Punjab. It is also the national sport of Bangladesh.

Two teams compete, each occupying its own half of the court. They take turns sending a “raider” into the opposing team’s half and earn points if the raider manages to touch opposing team members and return to the home half, all while taking only a single breath. If however the raider is tackled and prevented from returning, the opposing team earns the point.

The feature anthem of Gujarat Fortune Giants, the Gujarat team of Pro Kabaddi League (PKL), was launched with a bang on the 29th of June on Radio Mirchi’s show ‘Hi Ahmedabad!’. Composed by Bollywood’s most sought after musical duo Salim-Sulaiman, the anthem is a musical depiction of Gujarat Fortune Giants’ central theme ‘Garjega Gujarat’ which resonates with the unyielding spirit of Gujarat. The anthem has been sung by Sukhwinder Singh, one of India’s most iconic maestros along with beautiful opening rendition by Kirtidan Gadhvi, Gujarat’s most popular devotional and folk singer.

Launched by the show’s host and Gujarat’s favourite RJ Dhvanit, the anthem marked the debut of Gujarat Fortune Giants at PKL in its 5th edition, thereby upholding the advent of Gujarat at the national Kabaddi scene.

“We are extremely optimistic about season 5 of Pro-Kabaddi League. Keeping in mind a balanced team composition of strong raiders, defenders, all rounders with strong coach and great support staff, coupled with a well monitored training, Gujarat Fortune Giants is already on a good  start, with a reason to believe in a win. This confidence is well reflected in our anthem as well.
