DICT Launches Top Priority Projects Towards A Digitized PH


Last month, the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) under the leadership Sec. Rodolfo Salalima has launched its top priority projects. They unveiled National Government Portal (NGP), the National Broadband Plan (NBP), and lastly the Pipol Konek Free Wi-Fi Internet Access in Public Places Project. The NGP consolidates all of the services that are provided by different government agencies and local govenment units so that the agencies can consolidate the from other agencies and it will work as a one-stop shop to help the citizens lessen the time of the transaction. This will also be used to consolidate the contents of each government websites. The NGP can be accessed thru this portal: http://www.gov.ph. The NBP is made to plan the infostructures and help increase the speed of the internet in the Philippines especially in the countryside. This will also help interconnecting the different govenment agencies and local government units. The Pipol Konek Free Wi-Fi Internet Access in Public Places Project is aimed to help ordinary citizens to have an access to a fast internet service without paying a high price. This aims  to help students in their researches and to ordinary working class that are stuck in traffic to get an up-to-date news and to email their clients. These projects were made to respond to the marching orders of President Rodrigo Duterte on providing the Filipinos a fast and secure internet connections and to increase the efficiency of delivery of government services. This is the first step in having a united and digitized Philippine Government.
